Officer Clinton Warren Hunter
January 1979 - November 2001
Officer Clinton Warren Hunter, an officer with the Austin
Police Department since September 8, 2000, died on Thursday,
November 29th. Officer Hunter died from fatal injuries sustained
when a vehicle, driven by a suspect attempting to flee from
patrol officers, struck him.
Officer Hunter was 22 years old and graduated from the
99th Cadet Class. Officer Hunter is survived by his wife
and two-year-old daughter.
"This is really a difficult time, a very difficult
time, for all of us who wear the badge," Chief Stan
Knee said. "Sometimes it is difficult to put into words
what we all feel because there is no other job like a police
officer."
The Austin Police Department lost a member of its family
and the entire Department mourns the tragic loss of this
outstanding officer. The Austin Police Department extends
its deepest sympathy to the Hunter family in their time
of sorrow.
"His actions were in the highest tradition of the
Austin Police Department, taking a thug off the street,
and he paid for it with his life," Chief Knee said.
Officer Hunter was laid to rest on Tuesday, December 4,
at Cook-Walden Capitol Park in Pflugerville Texas.
